Paige Denison - email Dean Vergillo- email Frederick Motteler and Gail Hall named Snoqualmie Valley Cup Top Runners for 2008! by Paige Denison Once again, top local running talent showed up to compete for the Snoqualmie Valley Cup at this year's Duvall, Fall City and Carnation Summer Run Series. New for the Cup this year was the addition of age grading, letting runners compare their best efforts at different ages; essentially leveling the playing field. Results for this year's Snoqualmie Valley Cup were calculated using the World Masters Athletics (WMA) age-grading tables. These tables use statistics gathered over many years of performances by runners of all ages.Following the July 4th "Run for the Pies" in Carnation, fleet footed Masters Runners Frederick Motteler and Gail Hall were named Top Male Runner and Top Female Runner. They were each awarded a $200 cash prize and free entry into all three 2009 events along with the Snoqualmie Valley Cup trophy. About 80 runners participated in all 3 events and a $50 cash prize lottery winner was selected from those racers. A very pleased Richard Chase celebrated his lottery winnings before an appreciative crowd of Pie Runners. This is the 2nd Snoqualmie Valley Cup trophy for Club Northwest Runner Gail Hall. She was ranked 11th nationally as a marathoner in the 90's, participated in several Olympic Time Trials and has been on two U.S. National Teams. Frederick Motteler has always been in the top three for the Cup and was tied in points with stand out Eric Garner following the Pies Run - the tie-breaker was age graded pace and Motteler's pace just inched out Garners for the upset. Motteler was "very pleasantly surprised" by the win. He has found age grading to be a positive motivator in his running. The Club Northwest (CNW) Masters Team Runner's goal is to "keep running as long as possible". Snoqualmie Valley Cup 2008 top 3 age-graded runners:
